CHELMSFORD — Six Chelmsford High School seniors were honored as Lions Pride/Rotary Students of the Month for April, Principal Stephen Murray announced.
Sponsored by the Chelmsford Rotary Club for over 30 years, the Student of the Month program recognizes outstanding students from each of Chelmsford High’s three academic houses for their achievements both in and out of the classroom.
Students receiving recognition were Sam Meltzer and Hollie Kaduboski from Emerson House, Christopher Mitchell and Jaskiran Dukes of Hawthorne House and Peter Sabbouh and Sahithi Chaturvedula from Whittier House.
Sam Meltzer
Enrolled in Honors Anatomy and Physiology, Pre-Calculus, Honors Physics, Clay Studio, Modern World Literature, AP Psychology and AP Spanish, Meltzer was described as “a hardworking student who tries her best in all her academics.”
Her hard work in the classroom resulted in Meltzer’s induction into National Honor Society (NHS), National English Honors Society (NEHS) and World Language Honors Society.
In addition to her studies, Meltzer participated in a wide variety of activities while at CHS. She was a member of the Theater Crew, the Symphony and Marching Bands, and was also a Spanish exchange host and traveler.
When not on campus, Meltzer could be found volunteering at the Lowell Humane Society, working at MetroRock Gym and SummerFest as a counselor or participating in climbing competitions.
Meltzer plans to attend the University of Vermont’s College of Life Science and Agriculture to study animal science with one day becoming a veterinarian.
She is the daughter of Michelle and Robert Meltzer.
Hollie Kaduboski
Taking a course load that included Journalism, Quantitative Reasoning and Problem Solving, Criminal Justice, ASL Honors 2, AP Psychology and Modern World Literature, Kaduboski maintained high honors throughout high school.
Kaduboski also participated in the CHS internship program working with the town of Chelmsford.
Outside the classroom, Kaduboski was an undeniable leader, serving as the president of the American Sign Language Club, president of the Writing and Literature Club and president of PRISM, CHS’s LGBTQ affinity group.
Described as “dedicated, passionate, and motivated,” Kaduboski participated in community service throughout the year as a member of the Faith-in-Action Committee at the First Parish Unitarian Church, and at Chelmsford Town Hall.
After graduation, Kaduboski plans to attend Hampshire College to study politics and sociology and one day join the Peace Corps.
She is the child of Rachelle Kaduboski.
Christopher Mitchell
Committed to challenging himself through his coursework, Mitchell was enrolled in AP Research, AP U.S. Government and Politics, AP Environmental Science, AP Psychology, Modern World Literature, Quantitative Reasoning and Problem Solving, Reality Check and Mentoring.
In addition to his studies, Mitchell showed a remarkable dedication to extracurricular activities, participating in Class Representatives, Give Club, Career Creations Club and the CHS Mentor Program. He was also a member of NHS.
Mitchell was also heavily involved in CHS athletics, having been a member of the rugby, soccer and winter and spring track teams.
Described as “hard-working, intelligent, funny, and organized,” Mitchell could be found fundraising and volunteering for events like Rise Against Hunger and the Lowell General Cancer Walk, as well as helping out at The Paul Center.
This fall, Mitchell plans to attend a four-year college and major in political science, eventually going on to law school before entering the field of public service.
He is the son of Susan and Aaron Mitchell.
Jaskiran Dukes
Not afraid to challenge himself academically, Dukes was enrolled in AP Modern World Literature, Principles of Engineering, Reality Check, AP Spanish, Intro to Architecture, AP Environmental Science and Calculus 1.
His strong commitment to his studies resulted in Dukes being inducted into NHS.
Dukes was also very active in extracurriculars as a member of Leadership in Motion Everywhere (LIME) club, the Asian Student Organization, Melting Pot Club, Robotics Club and the Speech and Debate Team.
When not at school, Dukes, who was described as “a positive role model for his peers,” could be found volunteering at Dragon Phoenix Martial Arts, teaching younger students.
In the fall, Dukes plans to attend UMass Lowell to study mechanical engineering, ultimately moving on to attain a master’s degree.
He is the son of Mohini and Simon Dukes.
Peter Sabbouh
“A motivated student,” Sabbouh was enrolled in AP Research, AP Psychology, AP Biology, Honors Anatomy and Physiology, Calculus, Modern World Literature and Intro to Acting.
His focus and determination in the classroom yielded membership in NHS and NEHS.
Sabbouh was immersed in the CHS community as a member of Student Council, the Freshman Mentor Program, Class Reps, winter track, spring track, and the varsity soccer team. He served as the corresponding secretary for NHS and the president of the CHS Student Council.
Outside the classroom, Sabbouh has worked with his church, SOYO, and volunteered with the Lowell Folk Festival, Carlisle Playground Construction and with Fort Ligonier Days.
In college, Sabbouh intends on majoring in finance and minoring in biological sciences.
He is the son of Marwan and Carla Sabbouh.
Sahithi Chaturvedula
Inducted into NHS and Spanish National Honor Society, Chaturvedula was enrolled in AP Research, AP Psychology, AP Environmental Science, Biotechnology II Honors, Calculus and Modern World Literature.
In addition to her studies, Chaturvedula was heavily involved in the CHS community as a member of Class Reps, Interact Club, DECA, the CHS cross country team and the Freshman Mentor Program.
Known for her “many admirable qualities,” Chaturvedula also maintained leadership roles in several organizations; she was co-president of Care Cardz, treasurer of the Asian Student Organization, and vice president of the South Asian Student Association, as well as a member and choreographer for The Crescendos a cappella group.
In addition to her academics and extracurriculars, Chaturvedula is an avid volunteer with the EKAM USA Organization, Lawrence General Hospital, TAGB Organization and the Interact Club. She also works for Kumon as a math and reading tutor.
Chaturvedula will attend the UMass Lowell Honors College, majoring in exercise science and public health on the pre-physician assistant track.
She is the daughter of Jayaram and Kiranmai Chaturvedula.
