LOWELL — Nonprofit Project LEARN has launched the application for their paid, hands-on job training initiative, the Harvard Medical School MEDscienceLAB Pathmaker program, for 18- to 25-year-olds interested in an entry-level career in medical or life sciences. This new program is thanks to an expanded partnership between Project LEARN, HMS MEDscience, UMass Lowell and other local industry leaders.

Pathmaker will provide lab and career skills to Lowell-area young adults who graduated from high school in or before May 2024 and are currently not enrolled in a four-year degree program. Program participants will benefit from lessons with experienced educators, personalized learning in small groups, lab skills training on the Harvard Medical School Campus in Boston, and social capital building to gain employment opportunities.

The program, which will offer three separate sessions, runs for two days a week for eight weeks, with students spending one day at the Harvard Medical School campus in Boston, and one day at UMass Lowell, with an industry partner, or at Project LEARN. The application closes on Friday, Aug. 9 at 5 p.m.
