WESTFORD — Nashoba Valley Technical High School has announced its students and athletes of the month for October.

Students of the Month

Students of the Month are selected based on the school’s “Portrait of a Graduate” attributes: Resourceful, Responsible, Resilient, Respectful and Ready.

Dante Cobretti, of Chelmsford, son of Elite and Lexi Cobretti, is a junior in the Programming & Web Development program. He plans to participate in SkillsUSA this year and to play lacrosse in the spring. He hopes to attend either the Massachusetts Institute of Technology or Harvard University to study programming or software development.

Dante was nominated by Social Studies teacher Philip Massa, who wrote: “Dante is a new student to our school and, in a short time, has made a remarkable impression on teachers and classmates. Dante’s exceptional talent and insightful contributions in Social Studies have been truly inspiring. Dante possesses a natural curiosity and a deep passion for learning. Dante is also a respectful and considerate classmate, and a valuable asset to our school community,.”

Isabella Iovino, of Groton, daughter of Dominic and Jennifer Iovino, is a sophomore in the Design & Visual Communications program. She is a member of the Student Council, Band and Girls Who Code Club. She hopes to attend college after graduation to study Art and to work for Disney.

Isabella was nominated by instructional assistant Kyle Stumpf, who wrote: “Isabella excels in all of her classes and is always kind to her teachers and respectful of others. She is the hardest-working student I’ve ever been around, and she is definitely not stopping that hard work any time soon. She’s always in a good mood and is always positive.”

Athletes of the Month

Jayden Auger, of Pepperell, son of Gerry and Kristin Auger, is a senior golf captain who also plays hockey in winter and lacrosse in spring. He placed fourth at the State Vocational Tournament and 12th at the State Sectional Tournament. His four-year total of over 1,100 points earns him the honor of most points overall in the history of Nashoba Tech golf.

He is an honor-roll student in the Electrical Technology program and hopes to start his own electrical company after graduation.

Jayden was nominated by golf coach Sayda Betsold, who wrote: “Jayden had an amazing golf season. His hard work has really paid off this year. He held the number-one spot for the team, and his scores qualified him for the State Sectional Tournament. He was the individual champion at the CAC League Tournament, and his scores led the team to second place. He also took the lead as captain, demonstrating true leadership qualities.”

Colby Catterton, of Shirley, son of Cassidy Theriault, is a senior quarterback who led the Vikings to a 9-0 start. He is a freshman mentor and studies Carpentry. In addition to football, Colby plays basketball. He plans to attend college, perhaps to study early education.

Colby was nominated by football coach Kyle Stumpf, who wrote: “Colby has had a long journey to get to this moment. He backed up our previous quarterback for the past three years, and since he has taken the reins as the starting quarterback, he has been named the Boston Herald’s player of the week twice. Colby is a natural-born leader, and the people around him know it, myself included.”
